We’re willing to bet that you have a smartphone. In fact, most business owners we connect with seem to not only have a smartphone, but they always have it on them. In this article, we’ll look at several mobile apps every business owner should not only download, but use on a regular basis.
Of course, if your business is not active on the below social networks, there’s little to no reason for you to be downloading these apps, unless it was for personal reasons of course.
Facebook Pages App:
With the Facebook Pages app you’re able to manage your Page almost as if you were access the Page from your desktop. You can easily see notifications, messages, basic insights, and respond to comments. You’re also able to update your Page’s status from this app, of course we always recommending doing that from a desktop or laptop whenever possible.
The Pages app is the perfect tool to manage your Page throughout the day where ever your may end up.
We’ve talked with many Twitter users that feel Twitter is easier to navigate from their mobile device than the desktop. Even though Twitter as made big changes on their desktop site to help with user-ability, sometimes it is just easier to access it from your phone, especially if you’re not near your desktop. Like the Facebook app, you’re able to Tweet, see notifications, direct messages and your News Feed from your mobile device.
With the Pinterest app you’re easily able to see recent Pins from your Followers, notifications and monitor what’s going on with your profile. In order to add new Pins to your boards, you must first have the image saved to your phone, so unless you used your phone to take photos, adding new Pins with the mobile app is a little more tricky, especially if you’re Pinning images from websites or articles.
With the Google+ App you’re able to determine if you manage your Profile or Page from the app. I have mine setup to manage the Social Brothers’ Google+ Page since I don’t use Google+ personally. Like most other social network apps you’re able to manage notifications, respond to comments and share updates.
With the LinkedIn App you’ll be able to access your News Feed, share status updates, see your messages and participate in LinkedIn Groups. If you’re using LinkedIn Company Pages, this app does not allow you to do anything with those pages.
The YouTube app is great for monitoring your uploaded videos and responding to comments and messages easily and quickly. If you have shorter videos you can even use the app to upload to new videos to your channel. Careful though, YouTube is a great way to waste an afternoon watching addictive videos!
Dropbox is a great way to share and access files anywhere that you have internet. With the Dropbox app you’re able to access all of the files in your account plus easily add images by uploading them directly from your photo library. We constantly use Dropbox as a quick and easy way to add images from events to our Social Brothers’ Dropbox folders.
If you use your personal vehicle for business then you should be keeping track of your mileage (my mileage write off has saved me thousands in taxes). MilBug is an easy to use, simple app that allows me to track the mileage in my vehicle, my wife’s vehicle and any other vehicle I may use throughout the year. Then, at the end of the year I am able to send a simple report that has all of my mileage usage. To unlock all of the features you have to pay $2.99, but it’s well worth it.
Remembering your passwords can be a major challenge, especially if you’re following the best practices and creating unique passwords for every account. With LastPass premium you’ll gain access to the mobile app that allows you take all of your passwords with you, where ever you go. LastPass offers a free version for desktop usage only, however for only $12 a year, you get access to the mobile app, a small price to pay to make sure you’re never locked out of those important accounts again.
Sure most smartphones come from the manufacturer with a Notes program, but those are limited and can only be accessed from your phone. By using Evernote you’re able to access your notes from anywhere you have internet, plus you have the ability to easily sort and tag your notes. When you need to go back and review your notes they are easy to find by using the search feature or going through recent notes. Don’t just take notes that you can’t use in the future, use Evernot and start seeing your notes turn into new opportunities.
We just touched on a SMALL handful of apps that we use on a regular basis to help manage and grow Social Brothers. There are several other apps that we’re sure you’re already using or heard of. In the comments field, share at least ONE app that you could not run your business without.
