This is all fine and dandy and will serve your customers well… but only if it gets on their mobile device and in their hands! Which leads us to the big big question we get from our clients we develop mobile apps for; “How do I effectively integrate this into my marketing strategy and get it in the hands of my customers?”.
Today we are going to answer this question with a few examples and ideas you can implement immediately. This will get your mobile app integrated into your marketing and help get your customers as well as potential customers using it.
First and foremost let the people visiting your website know that you have an app. Your website should already produce a constant flow of traffic that can support your mobile app downloads. This could be accomplished with a blog post introducing the app and its features. Through a banner graphic in your slider on the home page, and/or including icons with links to each marketplace on the sidebar or floating in the web wrapper.
Second, make sure the people in your business know that there is an app for the customers to use. Get everyone that is involved with customers using the mobile app and make sure they understand the great features that it offers to the customer. This will allow them to better recommend and promote the app to customers that come into the location(s).
This next one will greatly assist your employees in promoting the app as well. Third, make sure you get a QR code (if you’re not familiar with these check out this article) that links directly to where customers can download the app in either marketplace (Apple or Android). Create a poster or display that your employees can easily access or direct customers to, to scan the QR code for immediate download.
Not only does having the poster of the QR code make it easy for people to get your app, you can use the QR code in other places such as putting it in your email signature or just having the link to the app marketplace.
Fourthly, an email campaign to your current customers is a great way to get your initial downloads. Not only will you get your initial customers using the app, you’ll get your most loyal customers using it and coming back again and again.
Lastly, yet by no means the end to promoting your app, remember to use your social media to inform your Fans, followers, subscribers, etc about your new mobile app and how it is supporting your customers.
While these five quick tips don’t represent all you can do to get the word of your app out to your customers, it is a great start and will get your business on track to integrating your mobile app into its marketing strategy.
